ROSES FOR FUNDRAISING OR DISTRIBUTION BY SYNAGOGUES AND OTHER GROUPS
Due to a variety of circumstances, our ability to fill group orders is somewhat limited. We can deliver our mixed bunches, and in some cases we will limit the number of bunches we can supply.
To date, we have done fundraising projects with about 300 groups. Many of them have repeated the project time, and time again which attests to their popularity and success.
The upcoming events are Rosh Chodesh Elul, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot.
Here are the general guidelines for what is required to run a fundraising sale, or distribution of “ROSES FROM ISRAEL” from M&M Roses
Your group advertises and takes orders for roses. You can offer red, pink, yellow, or white, or a mixed dozen, which consists of 2-4 colors in one bunch.
We grow, and can supply red , pink, white, and yellow roses, in addition to our Circus variety, which is yellow with red tipped petals. The Circus variety is very popular, and usually in short supply. For most dates we must receive your order at least 21 days before the date of delivery.
For peak holiday orders, (Rosh Hashanah, Thanksgiving, Mother’s day, Pesach) we strongly suggest that you offer the “mixed” bunches. These have proven to be very popular and make it easier for you to take and distribute the orders, and easier for us to prepare and ship them.
In addition, for these peak periods, the stem length will vary between just under 17 inches to just over 18 inches. These stem lengths refer to the length after you cut the dry end of the stem when the roses arrive, as described in the next section.
We will supply roses which have stems between 17.75 and 18.5 inches long. When they arrive, you must cut about 1.5 inches off the stems to allow them to take up water.
We pack each dozen individually wrapped in our colorful cellophane sleeve and wrapped in corrugated cardboard to protect them during shipment. We send the entire quantity to one address. We ship with FedEx Standard Overnight service which should arrive by 3. PM in the afternoon to most zipcodes. The roses should be ordered to arrive the day before you want to distribute them. When the roses arrive you must open the carton, cut the stems, and put the bunches in plastic buckets of HOT (around 1000 F) water with some flower food (which we supply), until the day of distribution. The water in the buckets should be very hot tap water. The roses stay in this water until distribution.
The cutting of the stems, and placing the bunches in very hot water is crucial to the success of the project. (The addition of the rose food (M’shaper 6) at this stage is optional. You must not introduce any shortcuts at this stage. The main cause of premature wilting of roses is air in the stems. If you don’t get the air out of the stems when the roses arrive, the chances of having a problem is greatly increased. Our “care” sheet, included with every dozen, also instructs the individuals who receive the roses to re-cut the stems every couple of days, or sooner if there is any sign of premature wilting.
Handling the roses is not difficult, but it does take a bit of co-ordination and preparation.
Instructions for caring for the roses when they arrive can be seen at Preparations .
Most groups use the youth to help, and a good time is had by all.
This year, Rosh Hashanah presents a bit of a problem since Erev Rosh Hashanah is on Monday night, Sept 29. We can’t deliver on either Sunday or Monday.
So you essentially have two options.
Option one:
1. receive the roses on Friday Sept. 26.
With this option, the roses should be fine.
The cost of our roses is constant, year round. We sell for $13 per dozen for orders of 30 dozen or more, including all delivery costs. You can sell them to your members for what you will. We know that $18-$20 is the usual range. The difference is yours for the synagogue, the school, or Israel, or any cause of your choice.
We accept payment by credit card through our secure server on our website, or by special arrangement, by check. Orders must be prepaid to insure delivery.
For “regular” events 8-10 days prior notice is normally sufficient. For holidays or other peak dates, we need to receive your order at least 21days in advance of delivery. You can see our latest, up to date deadline schedule at
Some families or small groups may want to order roses to be delivered directly to their homes, for a holiday or for a family simcha. We deliver smaller quantities at different prices. Full details are on our website at www.israelrose.com.
